Modernized e-File (MeF) for Business Taxes Filing

IRS Modernization project is one of the Softcom Inc.'s major projects. Softcom Inc is proud to be part of IRS modernization program, also known as MeF (Modernized E-File System). Softcom Inc has 7 years of proven record in deploying highly scalable and high performance applications in IRS environment. The major challenge for this system was processing the size of 4GB of returns from several fortune 500 companies and integrating in to existing IRS environment. This major initiative started in 2002 with modernized business tax filing and proved one of the most productive software ever in federal government sector. This project received Pioneer award in 2004 for the excellence in execution and delivery.


Modernized e-File (MeF) Benchmarking

With the impressive performance from business tax filing, personal tax filing was a major challenge for IRS. Softcom Inc was involved in prototyping and benchmarking effort in the in Sun Benchmark centers, CA. Sun Microsystems represented for Operating System, Oracle Corportation represented for Relational Database and Softcom Inc represented for WebSphere and Tivoli products on-behalf of IBM. The benchmark effort created highest confidence in IRS project executive to move forward with personal tax filing modernization.


Modernized e-File (MeF) for Personal Taxes Filing

The challenge for the personal tax filing was volume. In US, every year, millions of people file personal taxes on last minute. High volume spike was the major issue for IRS. Softcom Inc once again proved its experience in handling major deployment with the IRS personal tax filing.


Submission Display Portal Application

Submission Display, also known as, Return Request and Display, generates view similar to paper form for IRS employees/HelpDesk to view return XML data. The display looks exactly like paper format and is generated using browswer technologies. The challenging task was displaying complete structure of large returns of fortune 500 companies and display all the schedules and forms in on-demand basis. This allowed user to view large returns on a thin client like PC.




Delivery of Results (DOR)

OPM conducts investigations for most of the government agencies. The project, Delivery Of Results, involved in reverse-engineering and modernization of legacy based system to latest technologies. Task involved developing a system that either match or beat existing mainframe system processing.


Imaging Transformation

Imaging Transformation is a web based, workflow enabled Content Management System developed to store and retrieve investigation documents using Alfresco server.




Supplemental Complex Repository for Examiners (SCORE)

SCORE is a Web-based intranet PTO system. SCORE is to provide users with access to unpublished non-image patent application data and files that cannot be scanned into the Image File Wrapper (IFW) repository because of their file size or type. These files contain biotechnology sequence listings with huge data, tables or other information that requires specific viewing requirements. This data is handled using Documentum Content Management systems. USPTO will use SCORE for authentication and authorization of components to provide role based security controls.


Electronic Filing System (EFSWeb)

EFS-Web is a robust public facing system that provides a simple, safe, and secure method for e-filers to submit patent application documents as PDF files over the Internet to the USPTO. EFS-Web utilizes the existing USPTO Portal Infrastructure. EFS-Web allows applicants, or their legal representatives, to submit patent applications in electronic form and eliminate traditional paper processes. EFS-Web has increased e-file adoption rates and simplifies processing of applications. The system provides Registered (Requires x509 digital certificate authentication) and Unregistered (TLS) interfaces for e-filers.

Software Engineer

  • Analyze, design, develop, test and modify computer software applications software or specialized programs.
